May in Numbers

May was a great month, I bought Sky after all – my bike. Luísa and I started to explore the bike path and the theater here. And life is each day more in order.

How long until Black Friday??

Books

Apparently I consumed a lot of books this month – for my standard, of course – I read two books and two audiobooks. This leaves me one book away of my year goal of 15 books. A shy goal for someone that already did 50 in a year, but that’s what happens when you start to listen to Podcasts non-stop even when going to the bathroom.

From the 4 books, only one isn’t LGBT material: Bag of Bones. The other three are really lesbian, cute, go read it.

  • Everything Between Us – The Pink Bean #3, Harper Bliss
  • This Foreign Affair – The Pink Bean #4, Harper Bliss
  • On the Outside, Siera Maley

Currently I am reading Sharp Objects and listening to Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Nos étoiles contraires (The Fault in Our Stars, in french).

Podcasts & Songs

I listened to 48 hours of podcasts this month. If this is not enjoying spare time, I don’t know what it is.

And if I can’t code and listening to podcasts at the same time – here it is a skill I would love to have – then I will do it while listening to music. Doing it, I stayed 39 hours on Spotify.

Photos

The favorite picture of the month couldn’t be other than one of us cycling. THe last picture represent our actual changing moment: the empty apartment, exploring the city. And cycling, despite being something we already did in Brazil, was something that we stopped since a long time, in the end it were only memories of a distant phase.

Cycling brings us the feeling of freedom, to achieve our limits and go beyond, to win when we don’t have strengths left. This kind of represents our immigration process.

That phase, a long time abandoned, returned in full power. And the best part is that we have so many bike path in this city to explore 🙂

PS: in thisday, we fell. lol

Movies

We saw eight movies in may! Nothing like a rainy weekend to stay on the couch all day, am I right? The funniest to watch was Avengers: Endgame. Even with the detail that I didn’t watch 1/3 of all the movies so far. But the experience of going to a theater here for the first time was super cool.

Some considerations: the ticket here is cheaper; the popcorn is expensive as in Brazil; the program to win free tickets is great and you win points even when buying food, oh and it works 100% through the app; and this theater has a minor restaurant inside it!

Exercises

Now with a bike! We ride 9 days, because we only got the bikes on May 16 and we fell on May 28 LOL. It rains a lot here, so we can’t do routine of day on day off cycling. It is more to day without rain = cycling. The most amazing thing so far are the bike paths, besides being a lot, they are well cared. I can do my 8km to work only using the bike path, surrounded by nature. The bike path even smells like spring for having so much flowers.

Beyond that, I did 207.866 steps and 600 minutes of intensity. I am checking the possibility of buying a smartwatch or a fit watch to be able to track the activities. For now I keep using Flo and now Strava.

See you next time.
